This Land is Your Land.
The public should have a say in the hunting regulations on the LBJ grasslands. There are many possibilities to maintain safe and ethical hunting that would fit in line with the multi-use directive of USFS land. Rather than decisions being made entirely by bureaucratic order, the public should be involved in this process, especially if new restrictions and regulations are being proposed.
The proposed restrictions related to means of take (prohibiting rifled shotgun barrels, electronic sights, pelletized powers, etc.) should not be enacted. If any additional regulations are to be considered, they should be discussed and decided in a public forum. The current prohibition of target shooting should be reconsidered, potentially allowing certain types of target shooting (likely the same weapons allowed for legal hunting) in designated target shooting areas.
